A study by the Heart and Stroke foundation found that people with heart conditions are at an increased risk of vascular cognitive impairment and dementia. After studying 2.6 million hospitalizations, a pattern emerged showing that people being treated for one cardiovascular condition were more likely to develop multiple related conditions. Furthermore, patients are finding it difficult to navigate the Canadian healthcare system, noting long wait time for specialists affecting their ability to be diagnosed and treated in a timely manner.
