Hope on the Slopes for Stroke Survivors

Rick Hermann suffered a staggering 7 strokes between the ages of 29 and 33, and spent a long time feeling devastated over what had  happened to him. Once an avid skiier, Hermann found joy in life once more after re-learning to ski.

Two years after his seventh stroke, Rick began teaching adaptive skiing to others with disabilities. When he noticed a stark lack of stroke survivors in his lessons, Hermann started the group Snow Strokers to help others who had survived a stroke get the mental and physical
benefits that he enjoys from the sport, and he’s been giving new hope to survivors in this way for the past nine years.
