Dr. Vitor Pereira made history this November after leading the first-ever robotic surgery on a brain aneurysm patient. The procedure can also be used to resolve ischemic stroke.
Dr. Pereira controlled the robot from a console in the operating room, allowing for more precision than hands alone. There are hopes that this new advance in technology will allow for better care in rural areas, as the surgery can be done remotely as long as there is a technician on-
site.
