Dr. Michelle Nelson, Chief Knowledge and Innovation Officer, After Stroke

Dr. Michelle L.A. Nelson joined March of Dimes Canada as our first Chief Knowledge and Innovation Officer in 2020. An accomplished researcher, Dr. Nelson drives the strategic development of our After Stroke program, maximizes our impact on stroke survivors, and reinforces our position as a leader in stroke rehabilitation. Dr. Nelson is a scientist in the Collaboratory for Research and Innovation at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute and an assistant professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health in the University of Toronto. Her research interests include stroke rehabilitation and community integration with a focus on the role and contributions of non-profit organizations. Dr. Nelson has a large portfolio of international work, including an appointment as the Vice-President of Stroke Support Organizations for the World Stroke Organization.
