When You are In the Hospital

After having a stroke, it is likely you will spend time in hospital while your medical team  diagnoses your stroke, stabilizes your condition,  and provides rehabilitation services.

This can be a scary and stressful time for you and your family – one that is full of questions about what happened and what comes next. During this uncertain time, we are here to listen and be your guide.

Our trained After Stroke volunteers – many of whom are stroke survivors too – can answer your questions, and share information and tools you may find helpful in your stroke recovery. They can also connect you to your local After Stroke coordinator, who will follow up to offer more support once you are home again.

*During COVID-19, volunteers are available for virtual visits only for everyone’s health and safety.*
