Home Adjustments Guide

After Stroke Adjusting the Home After a Stroke GuideHow to adjust your home after a stroke.

Even when stroke affects how you function, you can still feel at home again. This guide provides tips for making every room in the house easier and safer to enjoy.

Some Tips Include:

  • Use a non-slip pad or damp cloth under a dinner plate to keep it from sliding

  • Mark bathtub faucets with coloured tape to set the right temperature every time

  • Keep a flashlight by your bed in case you need to get up at night

  • Add Velcro fasteners to clothing rather than have to fumble with buttons

  • Label food containers so that you identify them easily
