Aphasia Camps

​​​​​​​Aphasia Camps 

Aphasia Camp brings together people with aphasia, their families, health care professionals and students to explore meaningful approaches to aphasia management. Activities are both recreational and therapeutic in nature and campers have the opportunities to participate in diverse activities such as yoga, drum circles, canoeing, high and low ropes, nature walks and much more!​​

Aphasia Camp Goals:

  • ​Provide a weekend for people with aphasia (PWA) and their caregivers to help them live more successfully with aphasia through participation in physical, social, and educational activities in an environment that is barrier free
  • To combat loneliness and encourage inclusivity - through understanding and accessible communication
  • To build awareness surrounding aphasia and those living with it

Dates: September 13-15, 2019

Location:  Gull Lake Centre, 28116 RR3, Lacombe, Alberta  (1.5 hrs south of Edmonton and 2 hrs. north of Calgary).

For: Individuals who are living with aphasia (may be accompanied by one of their family members or friends).

Alberta Aphasia Camp ActivitiesActivities are both recreational and therapeutic in nature. The staff and volunteers are all educated about aphasia and support communication techniques.​ Here campers get to participate in diverse activities such as: 

  • canoeing​ 
  • yoga 
  • drum circle 
  • high and low ropes 
  • indoor and outdoor games 
  • arts and crafts 
  • nature walks 
  • fireside activities

  • $125 Early bird rate (for applications received by June 29, 2019)
  • $175 (applications received by July 26, 2019)​​

ZAJAC RANCH, MISSION, BRITISH COLUMBIA

September 20 -22, 2019 

This annual weekend camp, held each year in September, brings together people with aphasia, their loved ones, rehabilitation professionals, and students of nursing, PT, OT, SLP, RT, pharmacy and other related disciplines. The focus is on learning, connecting, communicating and recreation. It is a lot of fun!   

Dates: September 20 - 22, 2019 

Location: Zajac Ranch, Mission, British Columbia

For: Individuals who are living with aphasia (may be accompanied by one of their family members or friends).​​
